Telkom Sales ****med me

I am writing as an unsatisfied customer regarding my Telkom contract

My contract was due for renewal on 31 May. Prior to this date, I contacted the Telkom Sales Department to inquire about upgrading my contract without taking a new cellphone, as I was only interested in a data package. I spoke to a gentleman who provided excellent service and explained that he would contact me on 31 May to assist with the renewal. Unfortunately, I cannot recall his name.

On 29 May, I received a call from a Telkom Sales representative who informed me about a promotion for unlimited data at R299 per month. I explained that my contract was only due for renewal on 31 May, but she assured me that she could process the renewal on 29 May and that it would not be considered an early renewal. She further confirmed that my monthly subscription would be R299.

To my surprise, upon receiving my latest Telkom statement, I noticed an additional charge of R410 listed as an "Overdue Device" fee, in addition to the R299 data subscription.

I am concerned about this charge, as I was specifically advised that the renewal would not be processed as an early upgrade and that no additional fees would apply. I therefore do not understand why I am being charged R410.

I kindly request that this matter be investigated and that a detailed explanation of the R410 charge be provided. If this charge was app**** in error, I would appreciate it being corrected accordingly.

I look forward to your prompt response and resolution of this matter.

Reviewer Update
I am writing as a dissatisfied customer regarding my recent contract upgrade.A lady by the name of Nonhlahla from Telkom contacted me to apologise and explained that she was the consultant who assisted me with the upgrade. She advised that she was not aware that I would be charged the R410 fee and acknowledged that this was not communicated to me during the upgrade process. She further promised to call me back before close of business on Monday, 15 June, with feedback on the matter. Unfortunately, she never called, and I am still waiting for her response.I would like Telkom to address this matter urgently. Customers should not be held financially responsible for mistakes made by Telkom staff. I cannot afford to pay for a charge that resulted from incorrect information or a lack of communication from your consultant.I also urge Telkom to ensure that staff are properly trained and fully informed about products, upgrades, and associated charges to prevent other customers from experiencing similar issues.
