TELKOM SAGA

I am writing to you, since I have come to the end of my wisdom with Telkom.

PART 1 OF THE TELKOM SAGA We sold our house in Plattekloof 3 in December 2017 and vacated it early February 2018.

Since our new home address was not confirmed yet, I cancelled my Telkom services (Fibre optic Internet and one copper telephone line) at the Telkom office in N1 City on 20.Febryary 2018 (Telkom stamped cancelation form and Telkom stamped ID attached) I was assured that this cancellation is now being activated.

Ever since, I get monthly accounts (accumulated in the meantime to R 9,330.13) from Telkom with payment demands. I ignore those, since the account was paid up at cancellation date and would be corrected, when the cancellation information reaches their accounts desk. Eventually, I was approached by a collection Attorney, Hugo & Ngwenya, Pretoria, which was instructed by Telkom. (Correspondence attached.)

I submitted the facts, received interims reports and eventually the message that Telkom had asked them to close the file. A Telkom adjusted account was received in my letter box showing a credit of R 2,052.66 but still owing an amount of R 7,107.60 Simultaneously - on Friday 27.07.18 I received a SMS from Telkom now owing R 2,841.57 failing to pay, will trigger Legal Action I did not react and no further news since.

Over the period, I had been at the Telkom Office in N1 City, were the cancellation was done, several times, but no joy out of any of the visits. Just blanc astonishment and asking for patients.

PART2 OF THE TELKOM SAGA Being in our new home in Plattekloof 1 in the meantime I needed new Telkom internet connection. Since Part 1 above was not concluded I decided to apply for this new service via the Internet Telkom site. Not to confuse and hold up this application, I app**** in my wife's name and ID number. The application went through and several days afterwards I received a phone call from a Telkom gentleman (name escapes me) asking the same qualifying questions and the -after confirming with his supervisor - that the application has been approved and we will get the service connection within the next 5 to 8 days. I had app**** for a normal copper line with unlimited Internet connection 10 mbps. Asking for fibre optic would have involved cables, earthwork and to long.

An order number ********** 69A was allocated and in my uncounted follow-ups at the Telkom office in Canal Walk, it was confirmed that the order is correct, in progress, but with a tecnical problem attached and asking for patience with an apology. During those follow-up visits I spoke to several service persons, but mainly to Adrian Lewis ********** who also gave me a further reference number IT REF ********** . They then reported the matter to their Pretoria office. I received a phone call from the service centre asking for details. The caller consulted his supervisor during the call and then confirmed that the order is in the pipeline and installation should be within about 3 to 5 days above can not be traced.

In the meantime - I operate my business from home - I purchase date from MTN for a small wireless instrument, just to be mobile and operative. i have spend until now in access of R 1,400.00 on data.
