Telkom's Policy towards Blind People

I am a blind sugar diabetic.I was diagnosed with
diabetes at the age of 6. I reside with my dad who is a retired pensioner.
My dad is my primary caretaker.

In 1993 I lost my right vision due to the diabetes. In 1998 I was shot in my lower back as a result of a stray bullet.I have a L5 back injury as a resolt of the gunshot. In 2013 I lost my left vision due to a detached retina futher complicated by the diabetes.

I am unemployed.
I was employed in the architectural field as an architectural technolologist. I receive a disability grant from the state. This grant does not cover my medical and living expenses.
I have been a telkom subscriber since the 5th of June 2012.As a blind person I use my landline extensively to phone my family, friends and other people. My dad and I have always paid my accoubnt as Telkom payment should reflect on Telkom's servers.
On March 2017 my dad paid my Telkom account for Febuary month. My dad n ormally pays at Checkers Oakdene paypoint. Afew days later my service was suspended. I phoned 10210and I spoke to a consultant who informedme that I still owed Telkom 35 centsand my service would not be re-connected until this amount was paid. My dad paid r20 rand at the above-mentioned paypoint.
3 Days later my service was still suspended. I phoned 10210 and spoke to a consultant who informed me that I still owed r15rand on my account.I tod the consultant that I would not pay this amount as Telkom **** to me o the amount payable. The matter was resolved and my service was re-connected.
Later in March 2017 I paid r1200 rand into my account at Pick and Pay paypoint at the Glen Shopping Centre. My dad paid a further r500 rand on my account.
My service was suspended again on the 19th April 2017. I was informed by a consultant that I still owe Telkom r78.07 cents to re-connect my service again. So yet again Telkom does not give full disclosure to their clients regarding the correct amountspayable on their accounts.
Telkom's policy towards blind and disabled people is as follows:

1. If you have a landline and your service gets suspended because you owe Telkom 35 cents don't expect them to re-connect you even if your life depends on your landline.

2. Do not inform the consultants that you are a blind or disabledperson because they won't give any assistance regarding your re-connection status.

3. If you do get connected again it takes Telkom 48 hours to do so which does not help blind or disabled persons who depend on their landlines.

If youare a blind or disabled person applying for a Telkom landline give the matter careful consideration.

My number is **********
