Telkom's incompetence again

I was 2 weeks late with a payment and Telkom decided to cancel my ADSL line with absolutely no notification. The normal practice is to at least notify your client of such action, I have been shunted from one department to another even after making the arrears payment.

I am trying to establish why the line was cancelled and not suspended as is the usual action taken.

So it looks like my business will have to suffer no as no one in Telkom can take ownershop of this problem and they are happy to loose a client of 20 years for a late payment of R350.

Very nice business model!

Hi Noleen,

I have spoken to your billing, installations, sales, and technical departments each one refers me somewhere else.

Apparently I requested the line to be cancelled on the 17th of June and this is NOT the case and no one can provide me with the proof that I requested this.

Zama in Residential sales said she would get the person who processed the cancellation to call me to resolve and of course this didn't happen as no one in Telkom knows how to make an outgoing call to actually call a customer back.

I have now been holding for an hour in the sales department again as I was told by technical to speak to a supervisor but as soon as you ask for a supervisor your agents just put you on hold and leave you.

I am surprised that there is no function within Telkom that can take a problem like this and solve it for the client, why must the client be sent from department to department each time speaking to a new agent and having to explain the whole story over and over.

I will not be paying Telkom another cent and I will be sign up for an alternative today.

So, still no joy. After being promised on Monday that the line would be reconnected in 48 hours I am now told that it is considered a new installation so who know how long that will take.

Linda was the manager who committed to getting this done but I could not get his surname or a phone number to follow up with and all this means is that every time I get hold of Telkom I speak to a new agent and I have to go through the entire story over again.

So it is now 96 hours and the promised 48 hours never happened. I was on the online chat with Nokukhanya Mbesa now, who happened to be the agent that made the 48 hours promise and she just me off when I asked how long will it still take and who has she forwarded my query to.

My only comment is that you should avoid using Telkom is at all possible as they have absolutely no regard for customer service.

The latest promise is that someone will call me within the hour, buy I seriously doubt that.
