Telkom: Rotten right up to the CEO.

About three years ago, Telkom brought fibre connectivity to our area and we signed a two year contract with Telkom. No complaints about this but when our contract came up for renewal Telkom offered a free LIT TV box with renewal of the contract. Bills for new contract arrived but no LIT box! Despite numerous calls to "Customer Services", still no LIT box so I wrote to the Advertising Standards Authority who were very efficient and the LIT box arrived within a week.Next bill included the purchase of the (free!) LIT box but after a number of calls this charge was reversed. A new charge appeared on the next bill for an unspecified "service". My wife registered a complaint online but did not get a response so rang Customer Services who were unable to identify the charge but her complain would be escalated. My wife has been calling Customer Services at approximately monthly intervals for the last six months and each time she is told that her complaint will be escalated but nothing happens. As a last resort, I wrote a letter to Mr Sipho Maseko, who is the CEO of Telkom, and we are led to believe that he is one of the best CEOs of the new generation of managers. The letter was delivered by courier service. One month later, not a word from this 'top' CEO! Over the years, I have had cause to approach top management of companies who do not deal with complaints appropriately at a day to day level and these complaints have all then been dealt with in a manner to my satis faction. It appears that the rot in Telkom extends right to the top of the company.
