Telkom requires 2 months notice period
I am emigrating at the end of July and therefore want to cancel my Telkom line. My ADSL is with Axxess who very easily accept a months notice so I have cancelled with them for 31 July.

Telkom however refuses to accept my 1 months notice, which I have fairly given them telephonically twice and once by email, because they say the ADSL must be transferred back to them from Axxess before I can issue notice. This would mean that I will not have internet for my last month that I am in SA which is simply unacceptable.

I expect them to take my email as acceptable notice of my intention to cancel and therefore cancel my service from 1 August in their own time. I refuse to pay for August when I will not be in the country to use the service and I have provided them with adequate notice.

From a service point of view, it is nearly impossible to get hold of the cancellations department - I sat on the phone for 45 minutes today with no answer. To top it off, Saki - the person I eventually dealt with on the phone had a bad attitude and simply hung up on me - this is pathetic service. My advice to any one considering using Telkom as a service provider is to do your best to avoid it.
