Telkom Repair Ripp-off

I took out a Samsung J1 on contract last year (2016 - around April) from telkom. in February 2017 the phone stopped working and i called telkom on 180 and they said i must take the phone to a telkom store. I took the phone in and they send it for repairs. at the same time i took out another contract with them as for me they gave me a good service.

After a couple of weeks the repair store called me and gave me a quote for R1800.00. I asked the lady whether they are crazy as how can you pay for a fone's repair more than the value of the phone itself.

when i declined the quotation, she said i must pay an assessment fee which i am refusing to pay.

In my understanding the phone was still under guarentee and nobody explained to me or mentioned should i decline the quote an assessment fee will be charged.

If this was explained upfront then i not even thought of sending the phone in as i know how these repairs ripps one of - its like taking from the poor and giving to the rich. i went twice to the telkom store where i handed in the phone and they said they going to call me back - i was there on Monday (1 May 2017) but still no one contacted me.

can somebody please help me here!!!!!!
