Telkom refused to disconnect account, then bills me prorata - more than double my monthly bill
Your lack of service is joke status and has now cost me R1671.25. It is HILARIOUS trying to get you to follow the simplest of instructions.
I came in a few days before the end of January, asking for my internet to be disconnected by the 1st February. I was told this was impossible, which is absolutely fair - I didn't realise you had to give a month's notice. After triple checking there was no way to cancel my internet by 1st February, Sahana at La Lucia Branch told me the absolute earliest I could cancel was 1st March. We delayed our new service provider to only begin 1st March. Of course, after being told 'it is absolutely impossible to cancel internet by 1st February', my line was cut 1st February after all. So of course I then had to go back in to have it reconnected, since my new service provider would only kick in 1st March now.
When I went back to Sahana to reconnect it in early Feb, I said that she must remember my new disconnection date is now 1st March. And that I would hate to have to come and visit her again at the end of March if for any reason they forget to terminate my account. Well it was sadly NO surprise when the end of March came and the internet kept on working. We had now begun our new internet package with another provider, and I absolutely did not want to pay a double debit at the end of March. Once again, I went back to Sahana at La Lucia (who is obviously not thrilled to see me again) to ask why a simple month's notice to disconnect my account hasn't been executed. She apologised and said she would now disconnect it, and that I absolutely would NOT be billed for those prorata days in March, even if the internet got used to capacity.
Not only did my account NOT get cancelled in a few days like Sahana promised, it only terminated on the 1st April and I have now been charged a PRORATA rate of R1671.25! If I'd wanted to keep my internet this long I would have kept it and been billed my monthly R700 rate! I INSIST on being refunded this huge bill that I was reassured time and time again that I would not pay. It is so disheartening that every single instruction I ask you to follow, I go home thinking - well, there's less than a 50% chance that they will actually follow orders. And you don't disappoint.
