Telkom provides misleading information to Customer

In August 2015, after I had placed an order to move my ADSL line to Bergbron I was first advised by Telkom that there was 2Mbps ADSL available and I placed an order. Upon making a follow up on the order, I was told that no progress had been made processing my order because there was no ADSL avaiable in Bergbron. The Telkom call centre agent then referred me to Telkom Mobile so that I could find out about their LTE products.

In the end I signed an LTE contract with Telkom Mobile, having re**** on information provided by Telkom that there was no ADSL in the area. However, I subsequently found out that there was in fact ADSL available in Bergbron and requested Telkom to cancel the LTE contract so that I could get an ADSL line.

Telkom refused to cancel the LTE contract, saying I should pay cancellation fees as well as pay all amounts that would have been payable under the contract.

I find Telkom's conduct very *********. In my view, they deliberately misled me on the availability of ADSL in order to entice me to sign a more expensive and unsuitable contract with their sister company. It's on this basis that I want the LTE contract canceled.
