Telkom prioritising bandwith caps so as to de***** consumers.

I am telkom LTE customer with the 100/100 contract, which I took since uncapped was not available in my region, nor is fibre.

Last month I ran out of daytime bandwith on the 22nd of March and bought an extra 20Gb (at very high prices) to see me through to month-end. When the month rolled over - there was about 10Gb of that left, with an expiry date on the 22nd April.

This is bandwith I paid for, at high cost. Then to my shock and horror that bandwidth wasn't used. Rather than (sensibly) prioritizing the bandwidth which expires first Telkom first used the monthly allocation (which expires later) - meaning that the 10Gb I had bought could never be used because it expired while I still had some of the monthly allowance left !

This is a flagrantly dishonest way to do business, effectively selling people bandwidth which they will be unable to use before expiry by forcibly using the later-expiring caps first. As it happened, I ran out this month again - just this afternoon. In this case exactly because I hadn't immediately realised what an insane way they were using to handle caps - and thus thought I had an extra 10Gb of daytime bandwidth I could use.

I am a very upset consumer over this act of what I consider a deceptive and ********** way to conduct business.

For a start Telkom can rest assured that, when my contract expires, I will not be renewing it - by that time I will almost certain be able to take my business elsewhere. But I wanted to warn others of this practice - and encourage Telkom in the strongest terms to change it - consumers are on to you know. Caps that expire first should be used first. Any other arrangement is mindbogglingly stupid from a technological perspective (it is my field of expertise) and makes absolutely no sense except as a way to sell customers a product that will never be delivered. The very definition of *****.
