Telkom port mobile number to MTN without customer authorisation

I would like to bring the following to everyone's attention. In January 2020 around the 15 or 16 January 2020 I discovered that my mobile number that I had for years and resided at Telkom was ported to MTN without my permission. After discovering the shocking news I immediately contacted Telkom to find out why was this done without any authorization or signature from myself. Telkom informed me that they are aware of such a problem and the issued would be resolved. People were unable to contact me as the number was changed as well as all my bank notifications, OTP and other sms information and calls as well as entry to my estate was affected which had put me at huge risk. I had to deactivate notifications at the banks etc... Furthermore when the matter was reported to Telkom they refused to provide a formal case number stating that its a known problem. All that was given was a telephone reference number to which cannot be tracked if one calls again to follow-up. Telkom does not want to take responsibly for the issues stating that I should engage with MTN when I am a Telkom customer. In my view this needs to be handled between the to telecommunication networks for ***** business dealings as it inconveniences customers and putting them at risk. Processes are non existent when is comes to porting for numbers. You could be next...its just a matter of time.

There many others affected as well and steps need to be put in place to stop the **** / ***** business practice as this is not acceptable. The issue has been reported to ICASA for investigation.
