TELKOM - POOR COMMUNICATION & NON-EXISTENT DEALS

On 13 August 2019, I received an email from Telkom with the following heading: CHANGE TO A HIGHER PLAN AND GET DOUBLE THE DATA - NO PENALTIES. I also received an SMS from Telkom on the same day asking me to move to a higher plan to meet my data needs.

I currently have an LTE contract with Telkom, which looks like this: 20 GB (40 GB Anytime data + 40 GB Night surfer data) R 455 PM x 24

The email I received looks something like this: 20 GB (40 GB Anytime data + 40 GB Night surfer data) R 455 PM x 24 + R100 PM x 24 =30 GB (60 GB Anytime data + 60 GB Night surfer data).

I selected the button: CHANGE YOUR PLAN NOW, and completed and submitted the online form. The response I got was that "someone" would contact me.

No one contacted me, so I called Telkom. Only to be told that I am not due for an upgrade yet, even though I told them that the email said: CHANGE TO A HIGHER PLAN AND GET DOUBLE THE DATA - NO PENALTIES. I was then told that I would have to go into a Telkom store personally in order to get this upgrade.

After sitting in the Telkom Store Northgate for about 20 minutes, one of the Consultants was free. When I told her my story, she said I would have to wait for "one of the other Agents". I waited for another 15 minutes and then got to see Gugu.

I told her my story and showed her the email. She immediately shoved a Telkom brochure under my nose (the Telkom Brochure says it is valid from 22 August and my email was dated 13 August) and showed me a plan which was lower and cheaper than the one I currently have. I explained to her that I needed MORE data - not LESS.

She then proceeded to stare at her computer screen for another 10 or 15 minutes, without saying a word. I eventually asked her what the problem is and she told me "This plan is not valid".

At which point I left the store.

WHY did they send me the SMS as well as the email inviting me to change to a higher plan, when no one in the faraway galaxy has ever heard of this plan or promotion.
