Telkom number activation frustration

Good day I ported my number from MTN to Telkom mobile. I was told by a Telkom online agent that the number had ported and is on their netwok. Now I went to Telkom shop to do a sim swap but I am now told that the number is not on the Telkom network. This has been a huge frustration.
