Telkom = no resolution of technical issue on ADSL line = I have been without Internet for 7 days and no resolve in sight.

I rent my ADSL line from Telkom and this is what I posted on their Facebook page:

"I have been without Internet since Saturday morning (1 October 2016). I reported this to the Telkom contact centre on Monday Morning, using my Vodacom 3G router in the mean time. They provided me with a reference number (97BWK021016). By Tuesday afternoon, a technician called me to ask the way to my home, so he spent 30+ minutes to check my modem, my ADSL filter (why? - there is no problem with voice calls), the Telkom line out to the pole at the edge of my yard and then to the edge of the neighbour's yard, and found nothing wrong. So on Wednesday morning, before I departed to work, he stopped at the house and told me that he would not need to get into my house or my yard again, as he will now have to check the line further on. On Wednesday afternoon, getting home the Internet was still not on, so I called the technician, and he said he cannot get into the premises of the next house as nobody is home. Obviously some people work during the day! So he would try to contact them the next day. On Thursday it was the same story. On Thursday afternoon I contacted the contact centre and they did not have a clue of what is going on - the only thing they could do was to email the technician and CC his manager. I requested that the manager call me, but I am still waiting. I am now on the 7th day without internet and my 3G data bundle at Vodacom has expired two days ago due to using it on my home PC. Since then I have no connectivity and therefor no email or internet access. I asked the agent whether I can buy data for my 3G modem and claim it back from Telkom and the answer was NO. This is the WORST service I have received from Telkom in 41 years and calling the contact centre is absolutely useless. By the way, for some or other reason, I received an SMS with a new reference number (507CWK061016) yesterday morning. This morning when I called the contact centre, I was told that the technician was at my house but there was nobody and he could not contact me. However, I never received a call from him. I was on my way to work with a colleague (he was driving) at the time and could easily respond to a call. I checked for miscalls and there was none. I then called the technician on his cellphone and he did not take the call. I need to have Internet switched on today, as I have important things to do on the weekend and I need the Internet for that. I am recovering from weeks in hospital and need to work from home at times, but this is not possible without Internet. Please provide me with the number of an Executive Director of Telkom so I can get some action!"

But from reports on MyBroadband, this will not really help to get any kind of service. I have just called the assigned technician again and he says he knows where the fault is - this is on a line inside someone's yard and he cannot get in as there is never anybody home. He cannot go there after hours, because he lives in Cape Town. So I will have to wait until somebody from Telkom will find the occupants of the house at home. They may be on extended leave - and according to Telkom I have to be patient, they are doing their best ...
