Telkom NIGHTMARE
About one year ago, I tried cancelling my landline subscription from Telkom. I had to do so because I had moved. Even though I went through every possible channel (online, in store, email correspondence) of cancelling my subscription, the subscription fee was still being debited from my account. This happened for about 5 months, and every time, except for the first 2 months, I would reverse the debit order to get my money back. During this 5 months, I was regular correspondence with Telkom employees to rectify the issue and to cancel my subscription. Finally, one of the Telkom employees I was in correspondence with apologized for the inconvenience and stated that the first two months' debit orders which I could not reverse, will be reimbursed to my account (this never happened).
A couple of months later, after the debit orders finally stopped, a company by the name of NuDept dept collectors started hassling me, stating that I should repay my dept to Telkom. After supplying them with proof that I tried to cancel my Telkom subscription for months without success, they finally left me to my peace as well.
For the past 10 months, I have been living happily and free of worry form my Telkom nightmares, until yesterday. It turns out that I have been black listed by Telkom. I am now unable to open any type of credit account or make any type of loan.
Apparently the only party who can lift my blacklisted status is, Telkom. This is a truly tragic situation, and I feel like maybe being blacklisted could be better than having to deal with Telkom. IF YOUR READING THIS, AND YOU'RE CONSIDERING GETTING A LANDLINE FROM TELKOM, OR MAYBE GETTING FIBRE OR LTE INTERNET, WHATEVER IT MAY BE, THINK CAREFULLY. Who knows, you might get away problem free, but let this be a warning. Telkom is an terrible company.
