Telkom nightmare

A Telkom representative signed me up,for what he told me was up for an upgrade for my LTE contract, but it turned out that it was not a upgrade, but a totally new contract, which Telkom then refused to honour, as he had sold it to me, (5gb + 10gb night) saying the deal he had written into the contract was not valid and should be 5 + 5 only .

I cancelled the contract and they collected the router on the 2nd June, this which they had previously delivered, also under much confusion, as they had somehow changed my address from Durban to somewhere in Pietermaritzburg. And 23 days later had the cheek to deduct the so called first payment from my account, for which I did not have the funds, and the bank then reversed, but charged me R90 for.

Telkom had no authority to deduct money on the 24th of a month as my debit orders with them are for the 15th and they blame the bank, while the bank say they have no control over what Telkom put through. I was promised on the 29th June that the money would be transferred back into my account by the morning of the 30th by Telkom. To date this has not happened, while no account has been produced by Telkom for the amount deducted, although I have received both my June and July accounts reflecting my other amounts correctly for the 15th’s debit orders.

The amount of time I have wasted, on phone calls, visits to the Telkom service centres and email correspondence to try to sort this and other related issues out is unbelievable, and a lot of the staff must be either still new, or find the complexity of the systems unmanageable, and then those that are of any help, are then let down by the other departments or people who have to help correct the problems. Telkom ask you to evaluate the service every time you deal with a person, or visit a store and you end up giving a bad report to the poor helpful person, because nothing is satisfactorily resolved, or giving a good report to someone who appears to be friendly and helpful, only to discover they have totally botched things up, and made things even worse, this because 9 times out of ten the results cannot be assessed until much later.

I had been told that you could obtain a duplicate sim from Pinetown branch but Pavillion Branch disagreed that this was available. Pinetown was going to phone Pavillion to explain the product to them but this never happened.

Best regards,
This has still not been resolved and although Vee Njola of Telkom had promised on the 29th June to pay the money over by the following day this has not happened. Nedbank were informed that Telkom would pay and so feel they need not. The whole system is designed to be so onerous and expensive to the clients so as to cause them to write the money off, as the time it takes and cost of sorting it out is not worth it, and therefore collaborative legalised mugging on the two companies part. When do Telkom expect this will be sorted out?????
