Telkom nearly drove me to hang myself to the closest rafter.
I have been trying to activate my Grandmothers Telkom number after it was deactivated after her handset broke. I spoke to someone at Telkom who referred me to the White River Telkom branch. I was told to take the faulty sim card and a copy of her ID on this Pre-Paid Landline. They said they do not deal in Landline numbers, and referred me to the Nelspruit Main branch in Riverside Mall. I spent hours waiting in the line in front of the branch , having had to give up and leave to get to work numerous times. Eventually I got in, and they required a letter of authority from my Grandmother (who is 93). I had to leave and fetch a letter. I was then, again refused help, as I needed her original ID card. I left to fetch it. And again went back (Remember, My Grandmother and I live in White River, and your shop is in Nelspruit). This time they said too much time had passed. The service I received from the Telkom shop in Nelspruit Riverside was the worst I have ever had in my life. The people are rude, obnoxious, self involved and have the opinion that the customer is a bother to them. The consultant I had the misfortune of dealing with this morning, stared at me with a blank expression for long while I tried to explain the problem, then continued reading the previous clients she served's Bank Statement in detail. Before slowly colleting it into a bundle and then first chatting to the consultant next to her. She made no secret of the fact that I was bothering her. I again was referred to phone 10210. Then 10213, then the menu sections was wrong. Each time I was told to dial another time and press more different menu numbers, as Telkom is unable to transfer calls between numbers.
ALL I WANT IS TO ACTIVATE THE NUMBER SO IT CAN BE PORTED TO A VOIP SYSTEM.
Why is Telkom bankrupt? BECAUSE YOU HAVE GOT NO IDEA WHAT CUSTOMER SERVICE IS. YOU TREAT THE PEOPLE WHO SHOULD SUPPORT YOU LIKE ****.
