Telkom Nearest Store is too far away!

I took out a new contract with Telkom. I requested a number port from a prepaid to my new contract. After one week, nothing happens, so I called the helpdesk who insists that they can not assist me, I have to go to my nearest Telkom store. The nearest store is in the next town about 200 km away plus toll fees and petrol. Why can't they just help me over the phone? They've helped me on the Telkom business side do the same thing with Business mobile, so I know its possible. They do the necessary extensive security check anyway. This is expensive and unacceptable.
