Telkom, my friends told me you're frustrating

I write this review with a saddened and disappointed heart after being with Telkom running on 5 contracts for myself and family for the past few years, constantly encouraging those around me to take on a service from the Telkom and recently looking to continue with a further upgrades I experience what everyone has been complaining about. In May I upgraded from a plug in wifi router to have ADSL installed in my house. I took out a month to month contract being told this option allows me to cancel at any time I wish to. First mishap is when I got the first debit order go off on the 20th because well the person who assisted me assumed because that was my pay date I was comfortable with the date which was not how my husband had planned, when I tried to change it to 30th I was told that option was not available, in any case I let that go and decided we'll work around it. Second mishap is that because the limit set for debit order is R600 (actual contract price) I needed to pay the difference of R700 (router fee) myself and that's where all hell broke loose. I tried making this payment through my absa app from the 21st of May where it constantly gave me an error, switching between trying to pay a bill and a direct EFT and speaking to 4 different call agents to try help with this (and we know waiting to speak to a Telkom operator isn't exactly 5min wait) where one of the operators told me the account number on my invoice is incorrect/invalid and gave me a new one which also didn't work and eventually the last operator I spoke to told me to go to a pick n pay and pay there. I eventually went to a pick n pay where I ran into issues with the number recorded on my invoice again saying it's invalid. It's been a month today since I haven't had a running Telkom service because well my account is in errears and I'm not getting help to be able to just pay and get my service back on? It gets worse, today the monthly subscription of R600 gets deducted from my account and when I ask how are they deducting for a service I didn't receive for a whole month of June I'm told that's how Telkom works. I asked to cancel because it doesn't seem to be working well for me, I can't be paying for something I'm not even using, if I was being charged for a line (R300) I would make more sense but I'm being charged for data I never even had available to use, how, why? Also how do I pay this outstanding amount so that I can get it over and done with already? I am no longer keen to even continue with any further contracts with Telkom. How do I just settle this outstanding amount so I can find a better adsl service provider for my home. Also if anyone can recommend better service providers I'm all ears
