Telkom... more like HELLkom

Whilst we all know Telkom, like most state owned entities are useless, it is very disconcerting to experience just how pathetic the service is. After calling in on May 2nd to advise that my bank details have changed, the agent assured me that he changed it on his side and that the next debit order for my account would go off on May 20th. What shocked me was not that the agent **** to me since the debit order hasn't gone off on that day. What shocked me was that when I asked them to listen to the call as I feel they should take responsibility for their actions, the call mysteriously disappeared even though they claim all calls are recorded. When I called in, I gave them my new bank details and again a week later, they deduct from my old account again. I have now come to conclude that the people working there are just plain stupid. In the first instance, I did not give them authority to debit my account, I merely updated my details but they cant do something as simple as deduct the money from my new account.

What's really disappointing is that this is a company that built its reputation for being useless. I have always prided myself on paying my accounts on time and keeping it up to date. What more can I do if my bank details change?

Their money has been waiting for collection in my new account since the May 19th yet they still haven't deducted it as yet. They caused so much harm by damaging my ITC score, they send me threatening messages like cutting my service and now I'm liable to pay the bank charges as a result of 2 reversals.

A week after responding to my post on hellopeter, telkom are yet to call me to sort out their mistake. It is clear to me that telkom are more intent on listing me at the credit bureau, cutting my service and having attorneys call me for collection, than actually resolving the matter. I find it problematic that a company says all calls are recorded and when 1 requests to hear the call, it suddenly disappeared. Apart from already knowing that they are ***********, i have also come to see that they are dishonest and *********. Since they behave like a law unto themselves, it seems the only way forward is report this to ICASA. If I call them on May 2nd to change my bank details and the agent confirms that the details have been changed and that the debit order will go off on the 20th of that month, is it my fault if they **** on a recorded line (which strangely went missing) and didnt get their money which was supposed to go off the new account? Now they threaten and harass me, surely this is not ethical.

Telkom continues to set the bar to unprecedented lows. Almost exactly 1 month after Keagan sent me the usual cut and paste response to my initial complaint on Hellopeter, I am yet to receive a call. If ever you need to know what a customer should not be treated like this is the perfect example. Within the space of 2 months, this is how Telkom treated me: 1. On May 2nd 2018 at 08:09, I call in to change my bank details and debit order date from the 25th to the 20th. On a recorded line, the agent assures me that he has done exactly that. Turns out he ****, because the debit order went off from my old account and on the same day it went off previously 25th. 2. On May 28th, June 19th, June 24th and June 28th Telkom sends me sms'es threatening to suspend my service, list me at the credit bureau and have attorneys call me. WHY... because they didn't do as they promised on the recorded line. 3. On May 25th Telkom deducts R634.65 from my old account, then again on June 2nd, for the same amount they deduct from my old account AGAIN after they told me on the recorded line that they changed my details. Then on June 15th, they deduct an amount of R1472 on the new account, needless to say the amount reversed as there was no money in my account. Whats shocking is that they did this without my consent, I did not give them permission to deduct money from my account so I'm very sure they are acting *******ly here. What I found really sickening is that in their quest to get their money, they are willing to go to extreme lengths and would even leave behind a trial of destruction, because not only are they sabotaging my name at the credit bureau, but the banks are charging me for the reversal fees. 4. Today 10 July 2018, they suspended my account even though they deducted the money from my account 3 weeks ago. In addition to the above, Telkom has also promised several times to call me yet they never do. The only time someone called me was because I laid a complaint with ICASA. I'm still waiting for the follow up call which I was promised on July 5th. They are the absolute worst when it comes to customer service and they behave as if they are accountable to no one.
