Telkom month to month cancelation policy is a ****

I requested a process on how to cancel my month to month contract in the middle of the month. Immidiatly the following day I was informed that my contract was cancelled. I don't understand why a month notice as per their contract was not adhered to. Due to lack of access to the internet I had to spend extra money on buying data just to make sure that I can do my work and submit on time. When I contact telkom to fix this all they say is that my number is ceased.
