Telkom Mobile *****ulent Sale

On the 15th April 2024, I received a call from the Telkom Mobile sales department regarding a FlexOn 4 Top up for R169 per month, I had mentioned that my current contract is R299 for the Free Me 1.5gb in total including the device, she then mentioned that it would work out cheaper to migrate and that it would only affect your data package. She also said that my R30 data discount on my current contract will carry over and the R30 discount on my device (I don't have a device discount). I agreed based on it being cheaper. upon confirming everything using the OTP, I then asked her to give me the breakdown of the new cost, she then got nervous, pretending to calculate and cut the call. I realized that she **** and tried calling back to get ahold of her to cancel and was not able to. I only eventually got through on the 17th April 2024 and spoke to a lady in the retention department who confirmed that the FlexOn 4 is cancelled and my contract will revert to the previous agreement of R299.

The above cancellation did not happen as agreed with the retention department.

My billing for May and June 2024 is showing the FlexOn 4 and has not reverted to the Free Me 1.5gb package that I had. Over and above that they are now charging me a obligation carryover charge for my device of R222.22 per month which they did not declare to me, also I see the June bill reflects R179 for the FlexOn 4 which they said was R169.

This is *****ulent and against my consumer rights. I am also unemployed which makes it difficult to afford. I only agreed to it based on the fact that the consultant mentioned it would be cheaper then R299pm. She even mention it would be R269 pm.

My initial contract = R299 (R200 for device ; R99 (R129 - R30 discount) for Free Me 1.5gb data package) May 2024 bill = R391.22 (R169 Flex on 4 Top up ; R222.22 Device obligation carryover). June 2024 bill = R401.22 (R179 Flex on 4 Top up ; R222.22 Device obligation carryover).
