Telkom Mobile poor service

I joined Telkom mobile about 10 months ago due to the promise of good reception and service. On 29 April 2016 my Samsung S6 that is contract with Telkom began with technical issue (unable to read sim & rapidly losing battery power). On 02 May 2016, i confidently took my phone to the Centurion branch and reported the issue to the technical desk. I was told that they cannot book my phone in without having the proof of purchase. I asked why they cannot trace all the details via the IMEA number like all other providers do and he said that he didnt have access. I then followed the next que to meet with a consultant. She said to me that there are no such records on the system as there was a system change, and that the original receipt/contract must be brought on. My response was that, with the info that they have of me, does it not indicate my date of inception and my IMEA number. Spoke to an assistant manager and had the same response. Apparently, with their wonderful system update, they do not have that info anymore. Now I am not sure why i am even being billed. I had to go all the way home and find the original docs before they would assist me. Then they were offline!!. I have had many contracts with the other providers, and as a customer you are guaranteed to be assisted with a faulty device by merely taking your device in. All the info, due to being on contract, is available on their database and they confirm the IMEA number on the phone and check your identity to confirm. But not Telkom. I shudder to think what would have happened if my docs got burnt or something in a fire. PATHETIC I was told max of 21 days for my phone to be returned fixed. I get a message on 10 May 2016 saying that my device is out of warranty and i must pay R1143 for the repair and that a consultant will call me. Went back to the store with the proof again and proved that it is still within the 12 month period as per the receipt that I initially submitted. System note was made and off i went. 12 May 2016 at 14:18 I receive a call from a repair centre on behalf of Telkom asking if I will be paying the money (they even use other companies to do their dirty work). I explained that I had been to the store and that a note was made of the 12 month warranty period. I was then advised that my screen needs to be replaced, some frame..., and that there was water damage. I explained that the phone's physical condition was perfect as per the note I made when I handed the phone in and that the phone was not exposed to water. The consultant could not even explian the other technical items on the list (frame or something) or why the screen was being replaced. I advised that i refuse to pay anything as the phone was never exposed to water nor was there any other damages on the phone. She said that someone from Telkom will call me. I explained the urgency and the seriousness of this and that I will wait for the call. It is now 13 May 2016 at 13:56, approximately 24 hours later and still no one has called me. We are into the 11th day of this repair. There isnt a number on the sms's where one can even call back. I am terribly disappointed with the service. Firstly with me having to bring proof of purchase for an item that is on contract with them that should be on their system, for which I am being billed for every month. Secondly for them now not wanting to fix my phone and claiming water damage. At the end of experience, I will join a provider that will take of their customers and their information and that does not shy away from their responsibility. I will port my home line and my ADSL and advise my friends and family. I do await a response from someone. Contact me on *** as temporary number

I have received an sms today saying that they believe the phone has water damage which can happen without me deliberately dropping the phone into the water. I still refuse to accept that but I guess I have to move on. Not once have they taken the time to call me as their customer. I have shared my number so many times and still nothing. I am not even sure what to do with the sms as the number cannot even be called back. Again, the service level stinks. Call me Telkom

Still not resolved. Now my phone is back at the store not repaired and with visible damage to my phone. Now I am told that the R188 I paid was only handling fees. I NEVER signed such a document were i was fore warned that there is a R188 handling fee.

Now they also claim that the damage to the rear of my phone is not their repsonsibility. When i handed my phone in, the damage was not there and the submission form indicates that and so to does the handlers comments.

Please call me.

Still no one has bothered to call me. I went into the Centurion branch and the assistant manager promised to get back to me - 2 weeks later still nothing. I was given the Branch Managers (Yogen Gengan) email address and emailed her with a "read receipt".

It has come back with a message that the email has been deleted without being read. When will I catually get any assistance from Telkom or their staff?

I am now being assisted by the Brand Experience Manager for the Gauteng area. Now the repair centre has advised that my device was actually stripped and that is how they determined water damage.

When I went to collect my phone around the 4th July 2016, I was told in no uncertain terms "that my handset was not stripped and therefore the damage to the paint was not their doing". Now they say that they did strip the phone..... WHY THE LIES.

How many unsuspecting customers fall prey to this?
