Telkom mobile is underhanded and calculating!

I am disgusted at telkoms bad bad service, it's a pity I have to endure two years of such garbage.

I previously had a cellphone contract with them which was to end in March 2017. The package was for R199.00 - 50 min for voice calls, 1G data, 50 free sms everyday.

If I exceeded this amount I'd have to request more data or voice minutes, which I'd pay with my next debit. That is what I signed up for and that was what was explained to me.

On the eighth of March I went to a telkom store (South Gate branch) so I could upgrade since my cellphone contract was ending. I chose a R299 cellphone package. The lady who assisted me explained what it entailed - limitless telkom to telkom calls, 50 free sms, 1G data, 1G data for social networks and if I call other networks I'd be changed.

Fast forward to the middle of April when my nightmare stared with telkom.

I received an sms informing me that I've exhausted my data. I decided to check my balance because I didn't want to exceed R500 since I've been making calls to other networks. Before requesting for more data.

I called telkom and used their automated system, it told me that I owed telkom R1452.00. I was shocked and thought something must be wrong. So I called again and spoke to the operator, who confirmed this. He told me a lot of things that I still don't understand. That I exceeded my spend limit and that I had more credit which I supposedly used, hence this ridiculous amount. He said it would be sent somewhere and I'd be credited because I wasn't informed. This was on the 13th April.

I called telkom again on the 14th April to follow it up. The lady that helped me told me it took 48 working hours to get a reply. Fair enough, I called again today 26 April to follow this up.

I spoke to the consultant who informed me that telkom will not credit me because I didn't ask for this additional amount to be blocked. And that I'm liable for all this money. I asked to speak to the manager because I couldn't understand what all this meant.

This manager guy was of no assistance and a real **** hole (pardon me for that, I can't find a decent word to describe him and his treatment). He said I should be reasonable, and since I "used" their data I should pay for it. And that I was supposed to ask that my credit not be increased. How do I ask for something I know nothing about. I went for R299 contract nothing more. He also said that unless I can prove that I wasn't informed about the increase there is nothing I can do about it. Obviously I can't prove that, so does that mean it's okay for telkom to deal unfairly with me. So I can safely conclude that telkom makes its profits from robbing its clients and capitalizing on our ignorance... How calculating and shallow.

With my previous contract once I've exceeded my limits that was it, unless I requested for additional data.

1. I went for a R299 contract because that's what I am able to pay. If I wanted to pay R1400 I would have gone for a big fancy phone but, I can't afford that. Telkom are ***** and the masters of deception, they are shoving a service I never agreed to down my throat and I'm being bul**** into paying for it.

2. Nobody informed me of any spend limit that was increased, I wouldn't have agreed to it. simply because I won't be able to afford it.

Angry, cheated customer.
