Telkom mobile handing me over to debt collectors / attorneys for an ongoing ***** case
Last November I received an email with an invoice for 2 mobile contracts that I had allegedly taken out in the previous month. I immediately notified Telkom and followed their process to open a ***** case and duly received a case number. I was assumed by the agent that my account would not be debited the account was suspended pending an investigation. My account was debited in December, I instructed my bank to return the debit order and once again followed up with Telkom. The agent informed me that whilst an investigation was ongoing, I remain fully liable, and only if they prove that the case is ********** will they refund me. In the same breath, she informed me that investigations can take months. This is completely ******* and completely unheard of, how can I be liable for an ongoing debit order which is a significant amount for an unspecified time whilst Telkom investigated. In January I received notification that my account was suspended due to nonpayment. I then received a call from a debt collector who after hearing the case, agreed that the account should not be handed over to them. After receiving all my paperwork, she returned the case to Telkom. The very next week (February) I received a call from another debt collector, the same process was followed. Last week I followed up again with Telkom and was assured by two agents that the matter had been escalated and my case would be withdrawn from the debt collectors. Yesterday I received a call from an agent of VVM who informed me that my account had been handed over to them by Telkom. I once again sent all the paperwork to prove that this is a ***** case. I tried to follow up with Telkom yesterday but was unsuccessful.
I am absolutely disgusted by this experience with Telkom mobile. I am not a client nor have I ever been a client and yet they have put me under immense strain have to deal with the matter, let alone the time that I have wasted to try to resolve this. What more am I supposed to do. I need a person in a management position who can actually do something to resolve this matter asap.
