On the 25th of October I recieved notification that Telkom had debited my account with R2500. I immediately contacted the call centre to flag (a) 25th is not my debit date and (b) my monthly installment is R1200. When I called I was reassured the problem would be addressed on Telkom's end and all I had to do was reverse the debit on my end with my bank. Done. Ref ********** 5 is given.

Come the 10:40 Monday 31/10 and my service has been suspended with a instruction to call the call centre. Not possible BECAUSE MY SERVICE HAS BEEN SUSPENDED! I make my way to the nearest Telkom store (Liberty Midlands Mall) and was assisted by an employee who also advised me that the person from the 25th actually didn't place the call. It was left hanging. He then got hold of the call centre for me and after a fruitless chat I was put in the supposedly capable hands of the call centre team leader Tony Venter. Tony was very pleasent and assured me the matter would be resolved within 2-3hrs and she would call if there were any delays. I asked for a reference but she said all i would need is her name. The matter was never resolved and Tony never called. I tried to get hold of Tony and each time I was advised she is on lunch or on break and she will call me back. Each time my details were taken down again. Tony Venter never called back.

On Wednesday I had lost hope when an agent from Telkom in Durban's West Street branch assisted me and investigated the matter. He advised me that for some reason my debit for the last day of the month hadn't gone through and I must pay manually. I did that and before 9am my proof of payment was mailed through. The next story was that the money needs to reflect in the account. Money that was deposited directly into Telkom's account needed to reflect first!? What the hell is the proof of payment mail for? Why the hell bother depositting into the bank account directly??

UP TO NOW MY LINE/PHONE THAT I USE FOR WORK, AS A WIFI HOTSPOT, FOR CALLS, FOR EMAILS HAS BEEN DOWN FOR 4 DAYS FOR SOMETHING THAT WAS TOLD TO ME BY VARIOUS AGENTS IS NOT MY FAULT AS MY ACCOUNT IS NOT IN ARREARS AND THERE IS NO REASON FOR IT TO BE SUSPENDED!!!

Telkom missed the mark on several occassions. I was forced to deal with people simply send emails to collections rather than resolving the matter. Employees were following a system that is designed to inconvenience the customer and bring the customer ZERO joy or RESOLUTION but simply cover an agents rear end when some superior asks what procedure did you follow in escalating the matter. I was forced to deal with a blatent **** in Tony Venter who has created false hope and portrayed your customer recovery process in a disgusting light.

I am highly annoyed and wish ther was a single individual I could verbally abuse because this was not what I expected from Telkom especially considering how they couldn't even port my number correctly when I moved from Vodacom to Telkom (not sure who's fault that was but Telkom should have made sure their new customer was satisfied
