Telkom mobile

I received a cal from Telkom saying I was "chosen" to get one of their new mobile land lines at no connection cost. I was assured that this was the way forward and soon telkom migrate to this system. So I dutifully took possesion of the new Huawei phone. I dont really know where to start...The actual phone is like a cheap toy. Before this I had a cordless phone which has served me well. Now I have this toy which I cant carry around and needs constant charging otherwise it wake me up in the night with its low battery warning tune every 5 minutes. The cable constantly pulls the handset off the hook so most of the time its its inactive until I notice. This is not progress, this is regress. I can hear ok but the person at the pother end can not hear me as it keeps cutting to dead sound so I end up making the calls on my cell phone at great expense. Plus I was promised that my contract was the same as before. I tried to call Europe to give condolences to a friend who had a death in the family but an automated message told me I could not call international numbers. So clearly its not the same as before. I complained at Telkom Seapoint and they said they can do nothing I need to go to Cape Town. I also called Telkom and tried to speak to a technition who was more then useless but said he would escalate my complaint and I would hear back (Ref: ********** 9) that was in December, I am still waiting more then 6 months later. I then go to Cape Town branch and (that was also an experience. I was told rudely, "you dont queue there you queue here" from a staff member who clearly took me for an idiot for not knowing where to stand and I asked where the signs were telling me or anyone else this. I go to the counter and the assistant says Im dealing with a customer, "Oh I say, who?" "That guy" she says pointing behind me. I look around to see nobody. So reply "sorry but which guy" "no, he has gone to the bank, I am waiting for him" . Eventually another woman serves me and I explain the above story. She gives some robotic responses which dont actually corespond to my complaint and her answer about why I cant call abroad was because I am not on roaming. I told her I am not planning on taking my landline abroad. Then dials Telkom technical and I am back where I was 6 months ago. The chat with him was recorded and he was rude and unhelpful too. He tells me to take the battery out and put it back in. So I ask how will this help the handset falling off. Back to the assistant I ask her how can I get my old system back, she says we will have to change your number "its policy", I tell her I did not ask for this new phone. I also asked does any of this mean anything to you, does anyone see there is an unhappy customer in front of you and nobody is actually willing to help in any way, everyone passing the buck. She said telkom Sea Point should deal with this even though they said they cant. Telkom, your staff are robots, rude , badly trained and unprofessional. He last comment to me was "No it doesnt make sense but thats policy". What a great help!

Still nothing Busi. The only development is that I have no landline now. When I try to phone nothing happens. I have a business to run. When will Telkom do something? Plus I am sure that I am paying for the pleasure of having a non functioning Telkom phone in my home. Thanks for nothing!
