Telkom Mobile

In December 2016 my boyfriend took out a mobile contract from the agent at Telkom The Bridge Port Elizabeth. The deal was R199 per month for the Huawei P9 lite. We confirmed with the agent that we did not want any hidden costs where I was caught out by Cell C the same year due to a spending limit I had no idea about and didnt want the same to happen to my boyfriend. He assured us that he set the spending limit to R0 and that the costs would only be R199 per month. He explained that the first month would obviously be a bit more for connection fee etc. December the debit order went off without any glitches. January came and we noticed that even after my boyfriends 1GB data had finished he could still use the internet etc I immediately told him that something was wrong and we contacted the call centre. The agent informed us that his spending limit had been set to R500 we confirmed that it was impossible were the agent at The Bridge Port Elizabeth confirmed that he set the limit to R0. The call centre agent said that we needed to take it up with the agent that helped us where they can only help me with what they see on their system. I immediately e-mail the agent at The Bridge and he also confirmed that the limit was set to R500, I requested that the limit immediately be changed and I also requested a copy of the contract which I never received. He confirmed that the limit had succesfully be changed and stated in black and white that it was effective from the 1st OF FEBRUARY 2017. He apologised and we ended up paying R700 for that phone. We did not take the matter further as we thought he had corrected his mistake. The 27th of February 2017 my boyfriends debit order bounced for the phone and we knew this was incorrect where he had left more than enough money for the phone. We immediately contacted the call centre again and they informed us that his account was in arrears and the total amount due was R699. I told the agent that the limit had been set to R0 last month and requested to speak to a manager. She confirmed that a manager would phone us at 6pm that evening. By 7h30pm no-one had contacted us and I called the call centre once again. The agent confirmed that the limit was set to R0 but that it would only be effective from March. I told her that this was absolutely unacceptable where the agent in Port Elizabeth sent us a email stating that the matter was resolved and effective from the 1st of February 2017, the call centre agent said that we needed to take it up with the agent from port elizabeth and that they could only tell me whats on their system. I confirmed that I refused to pay this amount and that I would take it up with the agent. I e-mailed the agent numerous times and requested a copy of the contract he never once rep**** I eventually got hold of the managers email address and sent all proof to her and she confirmed that she would look into it. Telkom sent us an sms stating that connection would be cut if payment was not received today. I have now paid the R699 but will not be accepting this where I am still waiting for a copy of the contract and I definately want diciplinary action taken against the agent at Telkom, the bridge, Port Elizabeth. I cannot believe the service of telkom, how can they try and catch their customers out with hidden costs etc. I thought this wouldnt happen to us because we went directly to the source and did the contract and not via a call centre but looks like I was wrong. I will never recommend Telkom to any of my family members of friends.
