Telkom mishandling my terminated account/contract
I am disputing an account with Telkom. I had left the country in December 2021 and returned in January 2022 and was owing telkom the subscription for those two months then February 2022 came and I went to their Clearwater mall branch to try and arramge payment with them, I was also owing them for February by that point. I was informed the contract is terminated and I would need to reapply, my contract was supposed to end in March so I decided to not renew it since I had been sold that current contract using false information (I had an existing contract since 2013 and had renewed it in 2016 which came with a router, the router is still working perfectly so I rejected the router in 2020 but was told by the assistant I could not upgrade without taking a new router which turned out to be false information according to a friend of mine who works in the Sandton branch of telkom as I only wanted the simcard upgraded to unlimited instead of 10gb. I only found this out in 2021 which is why I wanted to leave telkom). I paid R1500 to them when they terminated my contract intending to pay the arrears over time but I have been receiving statements where they keep billing me as if I'm still under contract and not acknowledging their own termination of contract. I have used the website to log a call requesting that they call me back instead I get a call from a debt collector and not from telkom. I need to be contacted and need an explanation why I'm being continously charged as a client when I'm no longer under contract. I can agree I have some debt but it should be up to March and not beyond, considering I've paid R1500 towards that debt.
