Telkom Makes You Sign Under False Pretense!

Very upset with Telkom N1 City (next to Ackermans)! So in January 2021 while I was awaiting fibre from a different internet service provider I went to Telkom N1 City and spoke to William Robertson. I informed him that I want a month to month sim only deal with data as my fibre was to be installed within the next 3-4 months. He then informed me they currently have a deal for R199pm for 40gb day and 40gb night. When he showed me the deal in the booklet I saw that it said it was a 24 month contract, I then told him NO I DON'T WANT A CONTRACT, JUST A MONTH TO MONTH to which his exact reply was "don't worry sir although it says that it's a 24 month contract we put it through as month to month" to which I then agreed. She read some t's and c's from his screen and I proceeded to sign on the signature pad. He never once mentioned it being a 24 month subscription, before signing I asked him once more if this is a month to month to which he said YES. Anyway fibre was installed last week so I went ahead to phone Telkom to cancel only to be told by this kind lady that it indeed was a 24 month contract and it will cost me about R807 to cancel. I immediately told her I can't pay that amount of money. I would like Telkom to please explain why their employee William Robertson had me signing under false pretention! I would also like them to make sure that this "contract" gets canceled without further costs. As per the Consumer Protection Act 'In relation to the marketing of any goods or services, the supplier must not, by WORDS or conduct - directly or indirectly express or imply a false, misleading or deceptive representation concerning a material fact to a customer'. I could quote the whole CPA but that would be a waste of my time. Please fix this ASAP!!! The number in question is ***. And you can contact me on ***.
