Telkom makes us pay for their mistakes!
In May we changed from Telkom LTE to Telkom Fibre. After going through the authentication process on the phone for their R649 10Mbps home lite option, we were told after about 2-3 weeks it would be installed. It was installed and we carried on as usual. In July we had a power failure, and when the lights came back on, our fibre did not work. After speaking to Telkom, they said our account was suspended as the account hadn't been paid??? We were with Telkom LTE for the previous 3 years via a debit order so could not understand what the problem was. After hundreds of Rands in phone calls and hours of frustration (you never are able to get back to the same person if you get cut off), we figured out that Telkom Fibre Sales has put us on the wrong package and never instated the debit order. So now according to them, we owed more than R3000 for this package we never wanted. Spoke to a lady in the billing department who told us we must pay R1113 to lift our suspension, which we did. Then we get told we have to phone Telkom Sales to change our package back to what we wanted?? We phone sales, only to be told our line is suspended and they cant do anything unless we pay another R800 or something! We have eventually been able to tell Sales to change our package (which now apparently takes up to 7 days), but then get told by billing they will be suspending it again on the 12 August!!! Telkom your service is absolutely atrocious and the amount of time and money we have spent fixing YOUR issue is just unacceptable!!
