Telkom - Lost The Plot

I have a twofold issue:

First Problem:

The first started when I cancelled one contract on the 16th of Aug, which was at the end of the term already, to take out one of the new FreeMe contracts.

The first contract was a 5GB a month data only contract which was costing me R 259.00 a month.

When I received my August bill Telkom had charged me R 569.00 for August and another R905.00 for September.

Remembering the cancellation takes 21-30days to process, so was expecting the September bit to be prorated.

Further on the 29th and 31st August my account also accrued a R705.00 credit which on one at Telkom knows what it’s for.

Thus a contract that should have costed me R518.00 worst case without a prorate for Sept is now being billed at R1474.00

When I went into the store they speak with their accounts department whom said the R905 should be credited, however they could not give me a reference numbers for this.

When I called their accounts department a week later, they said I would have to pay the full bill.

I was told that the contract expired and that Telkom extends this contract essentially starting a new contract however without any of the discounts initially allocated to this contract.

This is wrong, it should go to a prepaid contract and I should be responsible for either cancelling it or upgrading it.

Worst case it should roll on a month to month still paying the same amount, which had happened to me with ANY other cell/data contract I had ever owned with any other provider.

Furthermore, no one could tell me what the R705.00 credits in Aug was for, just like no one could account for why this amount had suddenly jumped from R259.00 to different numbers for each month, i.e. Aug was R569 and Sept R905...

Second Problem:

Been on the FreeMe for nearly 30 days since I signed up, and I took the FreeMe 20GB plan.

This gives you:

- 20GB data

- 2GB Social Media data which included Whatsapp, Viber, Snapchat, etc. and also includes the VoIP calling with these apps.

- 1500 Mins to any network with some limitations to TollFree numbers.

- Unlimited Telkom to Telkom land and mobile numbers

Today I was streaming the semis and the finals of the WSL surfing contest in the states when I got an SMS stating my social media data only had 400MBs left.

This was being streamed off the WSL application for IOS.

I then switched to the web based URL to stream from there thinking the applications protocol was picking up as social media.

NOPE, this finished the rest of my data and I got an SMS stating I only have 88MB lefts of my Social Media dedicated data.

Does not matter whom I speak with it seems like black hole which things disappear into and you get no resolution.

I am such an unhappy customer at this stage.

Initially I told all my co-workers and family about this amazing FreeMe deals, however I had just messaged them all to tell them DONT sign up for ANY Telkom deal as its convoluted and you WILL come out at the end.

I also sent out a companywide email and advise all my co-workers of the Telkom Treatment and outcomes of my experience also advising them to please not use Telkom if not needed.
