Telkom Line installation woes

Telkom dropped the bomb on my after wasting half the day by telling me they can't install my line because its running to a pole in a yard at one of the houses down the road (really?)<br> <br> And instructed me that I have to go around now and go speak to my neighbours and ask them when they can be at home, call back telkom, arrange for telkom to come to their house and then install my line.<br> <br> How the actual **** am I suppose to go to people I've never met ask them to take off work and waste their time, so that someone they have no clue off can have his adsl installed - is it just me thinking this is the most outdated barbaric system - there are really no checks or pre work telkom can do to transition this smoother?<br> <br> So I asked him if he can atleast install the point so long and we can connect it on a later day to atleast speed that up (since I had to take today off from work and can't afford another) only to be responded to saying that can't happen and he doesn't get paid for that<br> <br> This place is a joke
