Telkom likes *****ing from people just before Christmas

At the end of August I was phoned by a consultant from Mondo. She was selling the Huaweii satellite internet router, with 50g data on behalf of Telkom. I told her that the rural area that I lived in had no reception. After extensive checks and consultation with her supervisor, they agreed that I would get reception; albeit slow. As this deal was much cheaper than what we are currently paying Vodacom, and with the reassurances from the company that I could return it within 7 days after receiving it, I agreed.

I received the router in October. As soon as the sim card was activated, it was evident that there was, in fact, absolutely no signal. I returned the router, at my own cost, within the 7 day cooling-off period. I then phoned Mondo who assured me that the parcel had been returned and the account had been cancelled with Telkom. I then phoned Telkom and they said that I didn’t have an account with them. I was satisfied.

At the end of November, quite unexpectedly, and amount of R1331.26 was deducted, by Telkom, from my account. I have called over five times to try and resolve this issue and get my money back. The first two times, the consultants didn’t even log my query (which I discovered on the third try), despite me asking for a reference number. They said it would be smsed to me, which it wasn’t. My query was then logged on 25/11/2016 and I was told there would be feedback after 3 working days. There is still no progress, and I am R1331.26 out of pocket just before Christmas. I hadn’t used even a fraction of data and returned the product and cancelled within 7 days. I was told by a Mondo consultant that Telkom has a backlog of cancellations, and the money would eventually be returned when Telkom got around to logging my cancellation. This is unacceptable. I will be putting a stop order on my account and I request a refund immediately.
