TELKOM LIES ABOUT THE NETWORK COVERAGE

On 31 January 2018 I app**** for a product, uncapped ADSL of R599pm after being approached (at P n P Hyper-Brackenfell) by a salesman named Elton Jackson from Telkom. Before processing the application, I requested a pre-check for the availability of the infrastructure in my area. He then confirmed and insisted on the existence of infrastructure as per his system.

Two weeks later, I got an sms requesting a deposit of R700 for installation to be paid within 7 day. I have paid that amount the next day as to speed up the service.

Technician Chris was dispatched on the 26 February 2018 for installation. After performing the inspection for installation, he figured out there was absolutely no infrastructure (poles and cables) available in my area. He then forwarded the information to the relevant department as to cancel the services. I also informed Elton about the circumstances.

Furthermore, I received a call from a consultant (Salome) from Telkom as to confirm the cancellation of services, with query#280218QMXSBV. When I asked about the refund for my deposit she told me I should go back where I have made the payment, I will get it. In this case it was Telkom direct at Cape Gate branch. On the 02 March 2018, I visited the store and got helped by a salesperson called Mariska Bester. She told me their store does not deal with refunds. I can only log a query that would take another 7 working days. I could not wait any longer at this stage but demanded to be redirected to the complaints department. She told me there is no such department within Telkom. I can only write to Hello Peter as to lodge a complaint. I left the store feeling so helpless and devastated.

I have been sent from pillar to post by Telkom, let alone loosing other ADSL specials in January from various service providers. I never got my refund till this day, nor receiving a call as an apology for their inconvenience caused. Moreover, I tried several times to contact the call centre as an alternative to lodge a complaint but failed to get through, having a feeling of being deliberately neglected as the voice prompt request an identification.

Selling services that do no even exist in your systems clearly shows the lack of fair, irresponsible marketing!
