Telkom just wants your money

We upgrade a contract in December last year. All online and phone delivered. When the sales assistant called me and asked what number I gave out current number, the number we wanted and confirmed it was the previous contract number. When the phone arrived it came with a new sim that’s a new number. We specifically asked for it to be on the old number and not it is impossible to get it swapped.

I have just spent 30 minutes on the phone with Telkom, first about Telkom calling my employer from three years ago for a so called arrears on my account that is not, and without trying to contact me first.

That lady then transferred me after assisting with that to a very rude and uninterested person who transferred me directly on without even understand.

My third person assisting me was lovely and went above and beyond, but says there’s nothing we can do over the phone to do the sim swap and I’ll need to go in store with the phone. How is this possible when we can upgrade, get a contract and phone delivered all online but when Telkom messes up and gets the wrong number now we must go in store as they can’t help us.

This phone is with my sister in KZN while I live in Johannesburg. So can someone explain how I must go in store to sort this out. Please refer back to the so called recorded calls of my sale where I clearly state I want it on the previous number and give them the correct number. All I ever hear from people is that Telkom are useless and it’s clear. You also do not care about your customers or what you’re delivering.
