Telkom is very bad
In July of 2017 I called telkom asking them to upgrade my account from 1Gb free me to unlimited data. Then I find out that unlimited data isn't actually unlimited, meaning I was mislead and the telkom employee didn't even bother to tell me that it's not unlimited data. So I visit a telkom branch to tell them that I'd like to downgrade from unlimited to 20Gb free me data. This gets done, month end I get my invoice statement with an amount due of R11001.96, I'm surprised as this is 10 times the amount I usually pay monthly. I call telkom and let them know of the problem as I won't have this money as it's their fault this has happened, turns out that one of their employees decided to cancel my contract and I had to pay the full amount remaining on the contract. So I decided to go to a telkom branch in Stanger to sort this out, I thought it was sorted then today R11000 is debited from account!! After I visited their store twice to inform them about this mistake and called them 3 times to sort this out!
After numerous attempts of trying to sort this out with telkom i eventually gave up, they blocked my contract number and i was left with the phone. In April of 2018 i receive an email from a debt collector telling me that i owe Telkom R1318.20 for my account,i ask the lady if this is the settlement amount she says yes, i pay the amount. In October of 2018 i receive a message from telkom stating that i owe them R2400, i was very suprised by this as i tried calling telkom numerous times and they told me that my account has been paid up. In Jan 2019 i receive another email that my account has been handed over and that now it is R3200 with interest! I'm very disappointed at the manner in which telkom has been robbing me of my money, as this was not my fault and yet i'm paying interest for something that was not my fault at all, something that i tried to resolve to for months!
I'm never recommending anyone to buy a telkom product through contract, my experience has been the worse and also very costly as i am now paying their mistakes!!!!
