Telkom is useless and lies, leave and be amazed

Nothing they promise actually happens. I had enough of Telkom and looked for options. Octotel is laying fiber in my region, so I checked it out.. wow! No installation fees, no monthly fees, was easy to just pre-order. Went for the 20/20 unshaped, uncapped connection for R800 per month with WebAfrica. And as it is a fiber, will cancel my landline and go IP-Voice to get rid of Telkom 100%. Bye Bye incompetence! I get way more at the end.. for even less monthly charges. Feels good to see the light at the end of the tunnel.. and it is pitch black in the Telkom tunnel as we all know.

Their service is simply not acceptable, I guess there are a lot of people agreeing to this fact. But if you don't change and stick with the devil, don't complain when you get burned.

My advise, check if you don't have fiber already outside your house, or if a company is on the way to it. Right now, you get awesome deals ;) Invest the time, can only get better compared to Telkoms lowest of the Low-Services.

I forgot a bit about this review. So lets add a bit.. is June ^^ The cancelation of the Telkom Internet Package I started in JANUARY ^^ is still not done. Been to the shop a few times, my SA wife went to the shop a few times and always you hear the same: We are so sorry, this should not be like this. I will look into and promise you it will get sorted in the next 3 days. We even got the mail from Telkom, that my Wifes Email will get shut down within the next 24 hours and please do a backup.. several times. I sit here and giggle when I write this. The word *********** is just not doing justice to Telkom. And they don't let you write here on HelloPeter the only word that brings it to the point. *****s! <- Word used for very very stupid people. January - June … we stopped paying 3 month ago to see what happens next. And to the reader, you are just happy with Telkom because you have no issue they have to handle. Wait till you sit in very very stinky doo, or go somewhere else before you really rely on Telkom doing anything, I wait for 5 months that the cancel my ADSL plan, as moved to WebAfrica. We can also add, everything I asked WebAfrica for, got done very fast, total opposite of Telkom hehehe Just got the sticker from OctoTel, my fiber is getting trenched. \o/ Then we go IP voice and cancel the land line too! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! The Perfect Quote, from the first time we where at the Telkom Shop together: "You better go home and backup your email data, we will cancel everything today!"

To the email account.. getting all mails now twice.. for quite some time now. Nothing in that Telcom so worth actually calling it a Telcom ^^ Should get canceled.. not sending me all double.. can they fix it? Not so far. And yes, all still running on the contract canceled in January.

Week has passed.. was Telkom able to do the job and cancel the contract.. NOPE! I will post a report now weekly, just to show you, Telkom can't even cancel a contract.. they are just not clever enough to get that done, so why would you sign up with such a company? Don't use Telkom!!!!!

Still same.. and my better half just has Telkom on the land line... I take bets that nothing will happen.. even Telkom promises it will hehehe and yes, the mail server is also not working anymore.. but they know about that problem ^^

Oh.. sorry.. the Mail server is ok after tech department.. didn't change anything on my side.. and get a server not reachable.. but all cool after Telkom ^^ And have to call other number (sales) to pick up on the cancelation.. no, they were not able to connect directly to sales themselves. Customer service = Zero

End July.. got an email from Telkom to send in every document, we already did in February.. again. Really? Octotel is trenching outside the house ^^ Will end that Octotell installed a brand new fiber connection faster as Telkom was able to cancel the adsl contract. Soon I just ignore every bill Telkom.. don't need the landline anymore either

September started.. no, Telkom still didn't manage to cancel the account. The good news, Octotel connected the fiber and I already ordered the IP phone. Telkom landline still obsolete too hehehe and this nightmare has an ending. Not a clean one, but after 9 months and so many reference numbers we have now from Telkom for the cancelation of the ADSL contract. How can a company not be able to cancel a contract, 9 months?? You can't really show more incompetence as Telkom does...

Last Update to this case as the Fiber line is installed and running.. typing this on the OctoTel fiber connection ^^ So will stop paying Telkom, this should solve all. Bye Bye Telkom!
