TELKOM IS THE ULTIMATE DISSAPOINTMENT

Below is a list of events

1. I bought a Huawei mobile wifi device from a Telkom stand at the Rand Easter Show in April 2016, cash. The consultant said they were from Telkom outlet in Vereneging, his name was Nkosinathi. He gave me his contact details and said I should call if I experienced a problem with the device, as a reassurance that it works. I didnt think I would need the number because I perceived Telkom to offer one of the best services on the market. Little did I know.

2. I started getting an error with the device, especially when using whatsapp along the lines of 'whatsapp cannot send and receive messages using the device network. Please disable, cancel or forget the network'. I followed these instructions and the problem kept persisting.

3. I decided to call customer care to report the fault. The only number I found was a ********** number which I called and reported the fault 3 times. I was never called back and the issue was not resolved. I called for the third time on 20 June 2016, same thing. The consultant said he would refer the fault to a technical team and he could see the same call was logged and since closed. He could not tell me what the turnaround time is.

4. I then went to the nearest outlet in Brooklyn Bridge to report the fault. The consultant said I have to keep 'forgetting' the connection and reconnect which she did and connection was restored. I told her it works as I have done so in the past but the problem keeps coming back. She said the problem is with the device and not the network which begs the question - why does Telkom supply devices that are faulty? She said I can return the device to the service provider after 7 days so what recourse do I have as a customer if the fault happens after 7 days? It's my fault? I get stuck with the device till when? She further said because I got it cash/prepaid Telkom wouldnt take it back. I would like to know what are the conditions of warranty? Apparently the 012 number I had been using to log a call is a store number according to the consultant in Brooklyn and not a customer care number. What is the customer care number? I cant find it on the website?

5. Dissatisfied, I went onto the website to find an email address as I wanted to convey this in writting. No email address on the website except for a form. So I had to call customer care to ask for an email address. The one she gave me is ********** I googled the email address and it appears its used for service cancellation. I told the consultant I wanted to report my dissatisfaction so I dont understand why she gave me this email address.

It is such a mission to get hold of Telkom. You have a fancy website for nothing. Something as simple as getting an email address or telephone number is a project on its own. Also your consultants are not useful. Its either they have a hard time understanding the problem or they dont listen. I am beyond disapointed about the service I have received to this point especially because I held Telkom in high regard. Customer service should be effortless. There is no use in making it difficult to log a call or contact you in the first place, before reporting an issue. I am so glad I resisted all the specials you have had for contract as I would be stuck with bad service.

Please contact me to resolve the issue I have.
