Telkom is ripping me off and the National Consumer Commission is ignoring it
So, be careful when taking a cellphone contract with Telkom. my 2 year contract ended in April 2021. In anticipation of this Telkom gave me numerous calls between December 2020 and March 2021 asking me to renew or upgrade. I in turn advise them no I would like to cancel the contract and would not want to continue past month 24. So here we are, at the end of May Telkom debit me of which I questioned since I had spoken to someone over the last few months and advised the company that I want to cancel. Telkom then tells me that no cancellation was logged hence the debit. I then tell them to cancel. NB: in the common law of contract no contract can continue indefinitely with only one party benefiting. So this is now the case with Telkom. They are still sending me invoices till today (September) yet I do not owe them. This month I received a bill of R500+ that they want to debit end of the month. I have already port my number to Vodacom (2 months ago now) which Telkom released and approved. However I received a bill of R500 for unknown reasons. I have reported this matter to the National Consumer Commission, I have not received any feedback over the last 3 months, they are simply ignoring me. I have followed up as Telkom keep billing me but the NCC do not respond. Telkom themselves have elected to ignore me and just continue to bill me. They keep sending me messages that my account has been suspended which confuses me, I do not have a Telkom sim card anymore because I switched to Vodacom, so it is quite a concern. I will fight this till the end. I do not owe Telkom any money.
