Telkom is *********** and misleading, never do take contracts with them!!!
In August I took out a cell phone contract with Telkom via Mondo, I provided them with all of my relevant details and the admin fee was debited from my FNB banking account, I then received delivery of my phone and was told that, I would only be debited for my subscription fee at the end of September. There was more that enough funds in my account by the end of September, but for some reason the debit did not go off.
At the beginning of October I received and SMS stating that my debit was unsuccessful and I should make payment immediately to avoid my account being suspended. I then contacted Telkom to inquire as to why the debit failed, and after numerous attempts, many irrelevant voice automated options, I finally got put through to an agent, I then informed him that there must be some mistake and I can even submit a Banking Statement proving that there was more than enough fund in my account at the time the debit should of went off.
I then asked the Telkom agent to confirm my banking details, he then stated that on my application there was a Standard Bank account, I immediately informed him that, that's is the incorrect information and that I have an FNB account, I also further stated that I currently do have another Telkom contract with them which they debit me monthly on, from the very same FNB account, so where on earth did they get a Standard Bank account from?? If it was a processing error from Mondo's side then their admin fee would of also been unsuccessful but that was not the case. The people processing the application on Telkom's side are *********** and unable to read the difference between FNB and Standard Bank.
The agent then agreed to update my banking details and ensured me that this was done, however a few days later, my account was suspended and on the very same day, I began receiving numerous calls at work, from a debt collecting company called NuDebt, who were harassing me to make payment, as if it was my fault somehow.
This was extremely embarrassing as it was as if I intentionally did not pay Telkom, when it was due to their incompetence that the correct banking information was not captured. I then tried to call Telkom back, so I could find out as to what exactly was going on, because when I called in the last time, the consultant ensured me that the issue was resolved, but yet they handed me over to a debt collection company. No matter what voice automated option I entered, I could never speak to a consultant, and the voice automated system would tell me that my account was suspended due to non payment and the call would automatically end.
After several days of continuously trying to get through, I finally got a hold of a consultant and explained to her the situation, she then informed me, that my banking details was still not updated, now even after making a full payment directly into their account and emailing through proof of payment, my account is still suspended and they refuse to reinstate it.
Such a horrible experience and I will never take another contract with this pathetic service provider as, this was not the first bad experience I've had with them, as I was mislead by the salesman with the other contract I currently have, and had to pay thousands of Rands
