Telkom is dishonest in their dealings with their customers!
I have had an 10 meg ADSL line with Telkom since Last year (2017). The line was down most of January 2018, when it was up it was too slow to do anything except email, numerous calls to the Telkom call center got no-where. At the end of January it improved to about 8 megs for a while but was terribly inconsistent, by June i was lucky to get 4 megs on a 10 meg line. All the while constant phone calls to report all the issues. I then upgraded to a 20 meg line sometime around the end of July, after Telkom had confirmed that the local exchange could handle it, in the hopes of getting some form of improvement. After the upgrade the line speed dropped to around 2 megs, after numerous phone calls, a technician replaced the cable from the pole to my house, for three days after that I had a phenomenal 14 megs and then it dropped back to 1 to 2 megs, every now and again i get about 7 megs. I have monitored my speed since the end of January and it looks like a rough sea, up and down, never constant .(never going over 9 megs with the exception of the three days of 14 megs. To date I have made well over 60 phone calls Telkom as well as visiting the Telkom branch where I signed up for the line. I have been told all sorts of stories, the problem is the exchnge can't support 20 megs, the line, the cable needs to be replaced, It is now the ninth month and it still hasn't been resolved after all the calls (well over 60 by now) etc.. In the meantime Telkom continues to advertise all their ADSL services to new customers when they cannot give the service that they promise to their existing customers. They are obviously very aware of this and continue to sign up new users. My understanding of ***** is to sell a service that one cannot or will not provide while taking money for it. This in my mind is ******** and I would not advise anyone to sign up for Telkom as they are a. **********, b. *********** and c. absolute *****.
