Telkom is completly ***********

I moved abroad and routed my business line to an answering service in late 2013.
In January 2014, I paid up my outstanding Telkom account and sent a request to cancel the number.

This was not done but unfortunately being out of the country ,I did not know this. A month ago, I received a call from a debt collector saying that I owed Telkom 4k for calls and line rentals that happened after my cancellation request.

I sent through the email and letter of cancellation and was told that because the line forwarding still took place even after I requested the cancellation, I need to pay the R4k.

In addition, I sent another adsl and line cancellation request through in November 2012 for one of my lines and this was also not done. The line was cancelled at the time but I still continued to be charged. I never received statements so I did not know I was still being charged for the second line. I took it up with Telkom at the time and they reversed a bunch of charges on it and killed the adsl component.

I don't see why I should continue to pay for a line that when I checked had been discontinued and also I had requested that it be cancelled.
