Telkom is a ****

I’ve had multiple Telkom mobile contracts(2 100GB data and 1 voice) since 2015. Constantly complained about the poor service (my area is supposed to have 4G but the speed tests were showing edge.) the longest support ticket I’ve had from them is from December 2015, it’s still open. Because of this, I decided not to renew my contracts when they ended in July 2017.

I took time to go to the store and filled out out forms explaining why. I still have copies. Instead of cancellations, an agent called me and asked if I’d consider retracting my cencellations if they fixed the issue. I responded by saying only if the issue was resolved, but the cancellations were still active until then. That was the end of our conversation. Telkom continued to bill me for services I had cancelled until December, when I called and told them I would block their debit orders until this mess was fixed. I was only supposed to be paying R239 for the voice and data bundle(Smartplan 100), with R149 being for the physical device.

Fast forward to March, the month my voice contract expired on, outstanding balance was paid and I walked to the Kollonade store to have my number converted to prepaid(got another copy). This never happened, a new debit started going off from my account, ranging between R450 and R389. I called to stop it and was told that my contract wasn’t cancelled but they could explain why I was paying so much for a service that costs R89. I’ve tried multiple avenues, social media included and they all never seem to resolve this, I just get promised call backs.

I haven’t used my number since December 17th, when I lost my phone and the balance on my account reflects that no airtime or data has been allocated to the number since the end of November. It beats me why I am still getting over billed.

I expect to be refunded for all debits that go beyond March 2018 and have the data and airtime that I paid for between December and March allocated to my number.
