Telkom is a lost cause

As 12km of telephone cable on the R62 was ****** in July last year, we had no telephone connection in our farming community. I logged the fault . We then received a letter informing us that the service would never be restored . We had our number ported to a VOIP phone at the beginning of August cancelling TelkomWe received accounts for line rental- which I queried, by email [ reference id number is ********** 0] having paid for the rental up to the date that we last had service. We received accounts every month after this and repeatedly queried them via email. Eventually in January we went into the George Office and again cancelled the lines and queried the account- still we continued to receive bills now reaching in excess of R3000.00. More emails to accounts query- to no avail. I then called accounts enquiry and finally spoke to someone who looked into my problem and said that we still owed about R1000.00- which I disputed[ [ ********** 80]Dispute- ********** 151] .Finally last month we received a bill with just an amount of about R9.50 -late payment interest. To finally achieve the end of the saga- I paid this amount and sent proof of payment by email stating it was the full and final payment on an account closed in August 2017- this was acknowledged. This month we again received a bill for R0.11 [eleven cents]- for interest on late payment. The envelope and postage cost more- and there is no amount due.Everyone in our area has had no lines since August and all are still receiving bills We also still receive messages to say that the fault on the line has been corrected- despite the impossibility of this with no cable! I really despair that Telkom Administration has the ability to run a viable business.
