Telkom ineptitude giving me a bad credit rating.
I cancelled my contract at the start of December 2017, with 30 days notice, so the account was meant to close on 08 Jan 2018. I filled in the form and provided the documentation as requested. I received a confirmation email immediately acknowledging the cancellation. The date came and went, and the line was still active.
While waiting for the line to be cut off, we used the landline to make some calls, thinking it would be imminent, and we would be billed for those calls in the final bill. After a while, they finally cut the line. When the next bill arrived, I paid them for all the calls we had made, but told them I was not paying for the line still being active past the cancellation date, as that is Telkom's mistake. This did not elicit any response, except another bill at the end of the next month, charging us line rental beyond 8 Jan and the rest of the time up until that bill. I emailed Telkom and dealt with an employee in the billing department, but the issue was not done. End of the next month... same thing. I emailed the same person back and asked him to show the issue to his manager. He said he would. I heard nothing back, except... wait for it... another bill with line rental charges, and an increased rate of line rental for that particular month. I emailed back again and asked him to escalate it, to forward on a communication that made it clear I was not just paying them more money. I heard nothing. There is no final bill. I am still getting them... The worst part is it is affecting my credit rating. This is the first negative 'mark' on my credit, and it is not even my fault. I have left feedback on FB, and now I am going to the Ombudsman. They have had almost 6 months, and this bad credit rating is the last straw.
