Telkom Incompetency

On 26th of September 2018 early in the morning, I had issues with my Telkom prepaid account which raise serious concerns in regards integrity, security and Telkom system stability. I topped up with 2 vouchers worth R30 and R10 , both which were acknowledged by Telkom as I received SMSes confirming the top ups. I checked my airtime balance and was shown to be R43.05. I then tried to purchase a data bundle I needed urgently at the time but I was refused and instead got back an SMS from + ********** ********** 5324 :

"Insufficient funds for purchase. Current balance is R31.60. Please top up and try again"

I tried a few more times to get the data bundle but got the same response. So I checked my airtime balance and the same Telkom confirmed it as R43.05.

Then I called the call centre at 01h04 and spoke to Jade Seekoei who told me that my profile reflected that I had R31.60 and that no recharge vouchers had been app**** to my number. She said that the Telkom system sometimes takes up to 24 hours to update recharges app**** to a number. But there was nothing she could do. And she said she could not give a reference number as Telkom did not give certain complaints reference numbers.

After the call, I tried a few more times hoping the system had 'updated' but ..same response. So I removed the SIM from my phone and put it aside.

Later in the morning , hoping the system had 'updated' this time around, I tried to purchase a data bundle again and received same response.

So I checked my balance and was told it was R42.92. Somehow R0.13 had disappered while my SIM card was not connected to the network. Thats another issue but its beside the point now.

Either Telkom is using dirty tricks to force customers to buy more airtime by delaying allocation of their recharges to their numbers or the Telkom system in not secured that anyone can hijack it and run a parallel system or the Telkom system is just not stable which is a risk not for individuals but businesses as well that rely on it. Which leaves me worried about my privacy and ability to respond to emergencies.

Whichever way, can you clean your act up. "Update" your system to reflect the true state of my account and ensure this does not happen again. I mean its likely to be much more people that are being affected by this. Which would explain *****ing airtime while SIM cards not connected to network. Probably trying to boost profit to cover up your *******ion and incompetency.

Sort out my issue.
