Telkom incompetence and lack of service

Telephone and ads line- ********** - cancellation

On the 18th of July 2016 I visited the Telkom shop at College Square , Bloemfontein and cancelled the landline and ADSL service for ********** . The cancellation was handled by Ms Lola Baartman.

I completed the Telkom form- Consumer request for Contract and Service cancellation-and submitted a copy of my ID document. The cancellation was confirmed in a printed document by Ms L. Baartman.

I continued to receive a monthly account in spite of my cancellation of the service. I went back to the Telkom office at College Square and informed them that the service had not yet been cancelled. They informed me that there was nothing that they could do and that I should contact Telkom on the 10210 number to get the problem resolved. After 8 calls to the 10210 number no one was able to assist me in this matter. They even suggest I go back to the Telkom office at College Square in spite of their continued insistence that they could not help.

On the same day i.e. the 12th of September I emailed Telkom at the following email addresses:
********** **********
I sent them a copy of the Cancellation form I had completed , a copy of Ms Baartman’s confirmation of cancellation letter and a copy of my ID. To date neither has rep**** to my query about the cancellation of service.

In October I started receiving sms’s from the Telkom lawyers DC Fourie in Port Elizabeth indicating that I would be prosecuted unless the account was settled.

I contacted the Administration Department at DC Fourie and spoke to a lady named Sharon. I explained the situation and sent them a copy of all my Telkom documentation to date. On the 21st of October Sharon at DC Fourie emailed me to say she had received a reply from Telkom and that the matter had been escalated to to Cancellation and that someone from Telkom would contact me.

On the 24th of October Mr Mpolokeng from Telkom phoned me to say that he would investigate the matter and send me an email. To date I have heard nothing from him.

I continued to receive a montly bill from Telkom. On the 4th of December I contacted Sharon at DC Fourie and pleaded that she please try and resolve the matter as I could get no response from Telkom. She informed me that Telkom had instructed her to close the file and that she understood that the matter was now finalised. I indicated that I still needed an account for July to settle any outstanding account.

On Friday the 23rd of December 2016 I received another sms to say that unless I settle my account of R3352.44 within 5 days I will be handed over to a new legal firm, MBDCS. On the 28th of December I contacted MBDCS and spoke to a Ms Mandisa . Initially she refused to give me her name. I explained the total situation and she indicated that she had an account showing cancellation of my service at the end of October.I explained that I had cancelled the service in July and therefore was not liable for the account in August, September and October. She indicated that she could do nothing for me and that I had to contact Telkom.

How can one get the matter resolved .I really do not see why I am liable for 3 extra months of a service which was cancelled in July. No one at Telkom wants to deal directly with me. The service at Telkom is disgusting and does not seem to exist. Desperate!
