Telkom immobile
I’ve been into two Telkom shops to ask them to help me activate the Telkom WiFi hotspot connection on my phone.
The assistant in the first shop in Table Bay mall told me they do not have Telkom WiFi in the shop and that I need to visit a shop in a mall with Telkom WiFi.
I went Canal Walk where they do have Telkom WiFi. I was told that Telkom WiFi doesn’t work with Apple devices. The lady said it used to work and then it stopped working and it “may or may not work sometime in the future.”
The fact that I have extremely poor cellular connectivity in most areas I find myself in coupled with the fact that WiFi is also out of the question makes me question the value I get from my subscription.
I frequently travel overseas and when I contacted your call center I was told I need to pay a R2000 for international roaming activation. Again despite the fact that I am signed up for multi year contract with a direct debit off my account. When I asked the person when I’ll be getting the deposit back and if I would need to pay it every time I travel he couldn’t answer me and just said I need to pay the deposit if I want to use Telkom overseas.
So now I’ve subscribed to another international roaming service, I’ve enrolled into my corporate iPass subscription for WiFi services and I’ve got a VOX IP telephone app to make and receive phone calls.
The service I’ve received from your stores and call center has been lackluster to say the least. I feel like a hostage to my agreement with Telkom rather than a customer.
I switched from MTN because they treated me poorly even after being a loyal subscriber for nearly 20 years but at least they had great connections and I seldom had a dropped call. I paid through the nose for international roaming but i had zero hassle.
As soon as it makes financial sense I will be switching back to MTN.
