Telkom ignoring cancellation of account

Before I relocated from Johannesburg to Pretoria 6 months ago, I closed my Telkom landline/internet account and ensured that I paid the outstanding fee. I followed the correct procedure: A staff member at the Fourways Crossing Telkom store branch advised that it cannot be done instore, but that I have to complete a cancellation form. This was done and together with a copy of my ID on the 9 July 2016 I emailed the documents to ********** (the email address provided on the cancellation form). I received no acknowledgement of receipt of the relevant documents. Since then I have asked (on 11 Aug 2016 and 26 Sept 2016) if they have received and closed the account and to date (23 December 2016) I have received not a single reply to my email. In the interim I was on vacation abroad and could not attend to the matter and consequently asked a family member to visit a Telkom store in Woodlands Mall Pretoria to query this. She spoke to a Danie Roos who logged the dispute ID ********** 8 and he said that he will attend to it immediately. I have since then returned to South Africa. We have been unable to get hold of Danie Roos on his email address. On the morning of 23 Dec 2016 I received a call from a woman at Telkom advising that I have been handed over to MBDCS for legal action for an amount of approximately R1,750 which is outstanding on this account. I explained a two things to her: 1) that since I paid the last amount oustanding - which is evident on my FNB account - I have received monthly Telkom invoices for this account and it has just accumulated since July 2016; and 2) I explained that I have followed the correct procedures and once it was confirmed that I have already been to Telkom to discuss this with them, without me being able to provide her with the dispute number, she abruptly ended the call. On the afternoon of 23 December I also received confirmation from Telkom via sms that I have indeed been handed over to MBDCS for collection. What more must I do to close this account? I would appreciate it if Telkom could investigate this ASAP. Riana McArthur

I contacted Telkom as instructed above and I thought that the matter was finalised and closed after Zulfah reviewed my last statement and acknowledged that the account was already closed mid-2016. In the past two weeks, up until the end of last week, I have received 3 calls from MBDCS (my account was obviously handed over) wanting to know when I am going to pay the R1566.08. I have contacted the ********** helpdesk on two occasions to inform them about the MBDCS calls but I have had no reply. I also receive weekly sms from MBDCS. To make matters more interesting, this morning (25 January 2017) I received an sms from Telkom advising that the balance outstanding on this account is now R3,113.56 - how on earth does Telkom operate?

First, my query on the 25th January 2017 was never rep**** to. Second, I have just received an sms that my Telkom account was now handed over to P&P Attorneys - ***. I am totally speechless.

Do I need to start a new post in order for someone to actually respond to this??
